Since end of the 60's I have been interested in traffic safety
topics. At that time well over 1000 people were killed every
year, and yet there were a lot less cars in the traffic at
that time. How could that come? Were all drivers crazy or
did they not learn anything before they got their driver's
licence?
On this site you will learn about a model that explains why
the number of people killed in the traffic fluctuates but
generally becomes lower by time despite the fact that the
number of cars is increasing from year to year.
There are basically two main factors to consider:
A) The accumulation of driving experience over time
B) The increasing fraction of roads having separate driving
fields
Hope you will enjoy the ride,
